Silicone Sealant is primarily made from Silica Metal, with other components mixed in to categorize different types of silicone. For example, when mixed with a Carboxylic Acid group, it becomes an acid silicone, while mixing with MEK Oxime or Alcohol groups results in a non-acid silicone.
Silica Metal, as the main ingredient, has excellent flexibility and chemical bonds that are resistant to UV radiation, making silicone sealant highly durable against UV rays and sunlight. This allows it to be used both indoors and outdoors. As a result, silicone sealant is widely used for various applications such as sealing aluminum-glass joints, filling concrete gaps, sealing precast wall joints, and bathroom or kitchen sanitary fittings. Commonly used products include Seal 500 and Seal 600.
However, a downside of silicone is that it cannot be painted over due to the presence of Silicone Oil, which prevents paint adhesion. To address this, South City Polychem offers a range of silicone sealants in various colors, allowing them to blend seamlessly with different surfaces, eliminating the need for additional paint.
