Silicone Sealant, commonly known as "caulking," is a type of adhesive used in construction and industrial applications. It is essential in these fields because it must be strong, durable, and flexible enough to withstand vibrations and external stresses.
Caulking is made from silicone, which is why it is sometimes referred to as "silicone caulk." It has water-resistant properties, good flexibility, excellent UV resistance, and can endure various weather conditions. However, it cannot be painted over.
In general, silicone caulk is divided into two main types :
1.Acidic Silicone (has a vinegar-like smell)
2.Non-Acidic Silicone (no sour odor)
Moreover, each type of silicone is further categorized based on the concentration of the silicone content : 100% Silicone and Extended Silicone. These variations cater to different applications, which is why silicone sealants come in a range of prices, from low to high. To give a clearer comparison :
1. Non-acidic silicone is more expensive than acidic silicone.
2. 100% silicone is more expensive than extended silicone.
